- Every day nine children in the U.S. are diagnosed with a brain tumor.
- Brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer death from childhood cancer, accounting for 24 percent of cancer-related deaths in 1997 among persons up to 19.(Report of the Brain Tumor Progress Review Group; published in 2000 by the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute for Neurological Diseases and Stroke.) *both facts provided by the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation - Asheville, NC U.S.A. 20 years ago, it seemed unique to know of a direct family member or friend that had cancer, yet now it appears to be the norm. It is so important for everyone to be educated about the spread of cancer, particularly in cases involving children, and do something about it (donate to a charity, read-up on statistics and make others aware, provide support for someone else). EVERYONE can make a difference in some fashion. Thank you, Chad T. Eickholt President The Kyrie Foundation www.kyriefoundation.org |
